Succesful installation of 60 tons composite traffic bridge
The bridge in Oosterwolde is moveable and it is the first 'lift bridge' in the world of which the deck construction is built entirely out of composites/ frp. The composite bridge is built for 60 tons traffic. FCE used its famous Infra®Core Inside technology for this project, commisioned by the Province of Friesland. The lift bridge is 12 meters long and 11.2 meters wide. Because of the slim and lightweight design, the choice for composite was obvious. With the pillars placed eccentric, the bridge could not have been built in heavier materials like steel or concrete.  |
