To replace two wooden bridges in Amsterdam’s Bijlmer (The Netherlands), the municipality of Amsterdam and Stadsdeel Zuidoost organized a competition among architectural firms. The design by Korth Tielens Architects won that competition. The choice was made for FiberCore FRP bridges with InfraCore® Inside technology due to the freedom of form and the durable nature of the material. The architectural office called the bridge itself a Bijlmer beauty. This invented term goes back to the bridge railings, in which part of the history of the Bijlmermeer is incorporated. With a specific approach to the bridge, views of Bijlmer statues can be seen in handrails.
