Revolutionary construction method with composite

In the 1990s, hundreds of composite bridges and bridge decks were built in a short period of time in the United States. But these structures showed serious problems within a few years. The main structural problems: delamination, detachment and cracking. These problems are revealed by fatigue after impact.

Jan Peeters did not resign himself to that. He had to and would find the solution. He resigned from TNO's Plastics and Rubber Institute and concentrated entirely on developing a revolutionary construction method with composite. For Jan recognized that composite is in many ways a superior material to concrete, wood and steel. But also that application of this fantastic material in heavily loaded structures required extra attention.


2008: establishment of FiberCore Europe

It took almost 10 years before Jan Peeters' inventions were ready to be applied in infra. In 2008, he presented the solution: InfraCore® technology. In that same year, he founded FiberCore Europe together with Simon de Jong. An important moment was a full-scale study demonstrating that the InfraCore® technology does not exhibit fatigue or other structural failure after serious impact for a hundred years.

2015: the big breakthrough

Since then, FiberCore Europe has grown rapidly. The company took numerous patent positions on both its technology and production method. 2015 became the year of the big breakthrough, with over 140% growth. In the same year, FiberCore Europe produced 5 moving traffic bridges and 8 lock gates in the Wilhelminakanaal in Tilburg. After years of investment, the acceptance of InfraCore® technology in civil infrastructure is a fact.

2015: InfraCore Company

There is also interest in InfraCore® technology from other market segments. Think offshore, utility construction, shipbuilding and aerospace. This is why InfraCore Company was founded at the end of 2015. Based on the convincing track record in infra, the founders of FiberCore Europe concentrate on new applications with the InfraCore® technology within this high-tech engineering company. The focus here is on the combination of four powerful properties: robustness and fatigue resistance, thermal insulation, blast resistance and fire resistance.

There is also increasing interest in InfraCore® technology from the scientific community. Within several universities and colleges at home and abroad research is being done into the properties of the InfraCore® technology. From the InfraCore Institute this research is being coordinated and young people can also start working with it.
