For the Municipality of Bunschoten-Spakenburg, FiberCore Europe replaced bridges 43 & 44. The old wooden bridge constructions were at the end of their technical life. They were looking for a bridge design with the appearance of the old bridges, but with a service life of at least 100 years with minimal maintenance costs.
FiberCore realized two bridges of FRP based on the patented InfraCore® Inside technology. The new bridges are closed self-supporting structures that meet the latest standards and guidelines. In order to achieve the appearance of a plank structure in the driving deck, the wear layer is arranged in an interrupted structure.
What was special about the placement of these bridges was that the bridges were taken floating (see video below) to their final destinations. This was possible due to the low own weight of our FRP bridges. This way the bridges could be installed with minimal environmental nuisance.
