More safety for the school children

This bridge has been commissioned by the province of Limburg to increase the safety of cyclists in this area. The school children in this area are passing here daily and normally they would have to cross a road bridge with a very narrow bike lane next to it. With this new FiberCore bridge, they now have their own bridge for cyclists and pedestrians only.

The new FRP bridge has a lifecycle of around 100 years. If the situation on Napoleonseweg should change during those years, the bridge can easily be relocated and used in a different area. Additionally, the light weight of the bridge itself also meant that the weight of the abutments could be decreased, which made the transportation and placement of the bridge very smooth. Although it’s classified as a bicycle bridge, it’s still very strong.  A truck of 15 ton could also safely cross this bridge.
